Kαλάβρυτα 1943

Inspired by true events, Kalavryta 1943 is a fictional drama based on the tragic massacre committed by German troops in December 1943. Directed by Nicholas Dimitropoulos and written by Dimitrios Katsantonis, this award-winning 2021 film brings one of Greece’s darkest historical moments to the screen.

The Main Poster draws from a haunting childhood nightmare of the film’s main character, a survivor of the Kalavryta Massacre. The striking contrast between the vivid flames devouring a tree and the deep blue mountain background, with the shadow of a child standing alone, creates a powerful and deeply emotional composition.

To complement the film’s visual identity, we designed a hand-drawn Logo with an eroded, vintage aesthetic, reinforcing the historical depth and dramatic tone of the story. Through these design choices, we aimed to honor history and evoke the emotional weight of the film’s narrative.
